Want To Choose A Lipstick Power Bank? Here Are 7 Factors To Consider

By Johny Jacson

Lipstick power banks have overtaken electricity outlets due to their added convenience. Let's clear up the following misconceptions that revolve around power banks:

Capacity of the Power Bank

The gadget's battery capacity should be equal to or less than the capacity of the lipstick power bank. For example, an iPhone has a battery capacity of 1,432 mAh.

These 4 batteries are the lead acid, the NiMH, the alkaline and the NiCd batteries.

Type of Connector

The lipstick power bank will turn on when you connect it to your gadget. It will turn off when you disconnect your gadget or when your gadget is completely charged.

If the LED indicator does not light up, the power bank isn't charging the gadget.

Lithium polymer and lithium ion are the two kinds of batteries that a lipstick power bank may contain. These batteries take 2-4 hours to charge a gadget and they typically cost around $100.

Lithium polymer is an expensive battery that's manufactured from aluminum. It sends 4.20-4.35 volts to fully charged devices and 2.7-3.0 volts to discharged gadgets. It typically charges only cell phones and can withstand a temperature of 0-60 degrees Fahrenheit.

A lipstick power bank without certifications is not safe to use. The certifications obtained from the CE (Conformit Europene), CC (Federal Communications Commission), and the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive) are proof that the power bank contains important components.

When not in use for a long time, the lithium ion battery suffers damage that's caused by aging. Lithium ion battery requires minimum maintenance. It usually charges notebook laptops, tablets, and mobile phones.

The switch at the other end of the lipstick power bank activates four LED lights. These lights detect your gadget's remaining power level.

They do not have similar qualities. The lithium-ion battery produces a temperature of -20-60 degrees Celsius, whereas the lithium ion polymer battery produces a temperature of 0-60 degrees Fahrenheit. It's difficult to differentiate an original power bank from a counterfeit one.

Gadgets that need an input volt of 5 V are smart phones, digital cameras, iPods and PSPs. Tablets, SLR cameras and video cameras are examples of devices that need an input volt of 8-12 V.

Function of LED Indicator

A power bank can charge gadgets that need different input volts.

Valid Certifications

Google gadgets include the Google Nexus One, Google Nexus 7, Google Nexus S, Google Nexus 4 and the Google Nexus 5.

The charging time may also be shortened if the lipstick power bank delivers an input volt of 24 V to a smart phone that needs an input volt of 5 V.

The lipstick power bank has short circuit protection and overcharge protection. The power bank has an IC protector that cuts the power supply to prevent short circuits.

This protector also cuts off electricity when the gadget is fully charged. The electricity cut-off prevents the power bank's life from decreasing because of overcharging.
