Common Mistakes When Creating A Website By Yourself

By Man Ponce

With all the new programs and tools available these days creating your own website may seem like an easy thing to do. However, too often many people make a series of mistakes that make visitors abandon their page right away.

Creating a website needs a lot of planning and thinking; you have to think about everything, everything counts, and everything will reflect in traffic. These are some of the typical mistakes people do, and you should avoid.

Using Flash in Homepage - When users visit a web page the last thing they want is to be waiting; they want to find what they are looking for. If a visitor is obliged to wait a long time for a flash animation to load most of them will get tired and leave the page. Also flash animation is not supported on ipads so you are leaving out a large audience.

Usability - Many people think in a fresh design, in how to make a page look stunning and forget about this. It has to be of easy navigation; everything has to run smoothly. Information has to be easy to find, everything should work perfectly. Your competition is only a click away. If the user gets bored or lost when navigating in your page, will abandon immediately; don't doubt this.

Appearance - Many people use flashy colors and this is terrible. You have to keep up with the latest trends, colors, layouts to make an amazing page. Design is very important; you may have great content but if the design is not good people won't read your content.

Create a website and think is forever - When you design a page, you have to think is like a shop window; it needs to change periodically, you have to include new sections, change images and improve content.

Not every week has to be different, but from time to time those changes you make, have to transmit your company is dynamic and that you adapt and move forward all the time. Content that doesn't work - There are many pages that include a link that doesn't work. This sends the message that the page has nothing to offer.

Your website is your company's presentation letter to the world; everything has to run smoothly, it has to work perfectly. If you want to impress visitors and potential customers make your research, take your time or think in hiring a professional to do it for you.
