People Are Able To Store Loads Of Information On The Document Cloud

By Loris F. Anders

Keeping things on paper isa just not done any more. Document Cloud is software used on the web that is mainly used by journalists. This allows them to search, investigate, explain and publish various documents when covering reports for the news etc. Since 2011 over 1.5 million pages have been uploaded by various news organizations. Many of the well known news room journalists from New York Times, the Guardian and Las Vegas Sun have been using this software.

It runs all the documents that one has uploaded through Open Calais. Many might know this as Web 2.0, Web 3.0, Giant Global Graph and Semantic Web. This allows access to all information about different places, people and even organizations. If there are any dates mentioned one is able to make a timeline with them for easier access. If any documents about a specific story are added this is a way to discover what else has been said including the original report.

Every year more and more News Challenge applications are received and over 111 projects have been funded by the $37 million. It helps to keep communities and people around the world informed as to what is happening. Michael Maness joined this foundation in 2011 and leads the Journalism and Media Innovation program.

Before one uploads a documents to ones site there should be a few other pieces of information added. Take a good look at the description, title as well as where the information came from to ensure it is all correct. Checking over all work is very important as there could be some information missing that was not seen the first time it was read.

One will be able to open the published menu and click on the embedded document viewer. Here an additional piece can be filled in the dialog. Either the Related Article URL which allows the readers that have found this article first to still be able to see ones reporting. The Published URL might be able to be accessed at more URLs, one can specify which one the users can be sent to if it was found through this web program.

This online storage has in the past been expensive to use but over the last few years the price has come down and in some cases can be used for free. This is now used to store photos, videos and music just to name a few. The sizes are getting larger and larger as most photos that are now uploaded use 18 megapixels and blue ray movies have come about.

In the summer of 2011, this Cloud and Investigative Reporters and Editors joined together. They took on the responsibility for the future development and maintenance of this dais. This also came to include the Knights News Challenge grant, so the prospects are constantly looking up.
