Email marketing is not dead like many people will claim, in fact is stronger than ever and there's no better time to utilize email marketing in your business to it's full potential. We believe that if you can master email marketing in your business you will have a chance of increasing your sales by as much as 50%. On thing to remember is that prior to contacting any of your customers through email, you should always get their permission to do so. Most people disregard unwanted emails and often delete them without opening them. You could also violate your ISP's policies by sending mass emails to consumers who do not want to receive them. Choose to install a double opt-in feature to make sure that the person signing up for your emails is truly interested. This probably seems like overkill, but doing so makes you far less likely to receive spam complaints from people on your list.

Try not to send out important emails on or around any major holidays. People are often out of their office or on vacation during these times, and so they won't read your emails. Certainly there are exceptions to this rule. Black Friday, for example, is one occasion where a date relevant campaign is warranted. Minimize your use of graphics in your emails to customers. Some email servers block graphics, so avoid graphics to get your message across more effectively. Also, many spam filters use quantity of images as a variable in determining if a message is likely to be spam.

The most important aspect of building an email list to promote your products and services is via the follow up process. Autoresponders are a great platform to automatically follow up with leads or potential clients for your business because you can schedule multiple emails to be sent for you on specific dates. This is perhaps one of the biggest benefits of having your own list.
