This could be done anywhere although the best places to do it is somewhere that has fresh air like nature trails and parks.

Parks have easier pathways when compared to nature trails that normally have uneven and difficult paths which are harder to walk on. Rugged walker or hiking boots are specially designed for these type of terrains that can withstand various conditions and elements which helps in protecting your feet during your hikes. Here are some basic information about them before purchasing one for yourself.

There are various types of boots that can be used depending on the kind of trail you would be going to and the load weight you are carrying. One of these are called hiking shoes that are low cut and have flexible midsoles compatible for short hikes in easier terrains. They should be used only for a short time because of their lightweight which may be unable to support the feet well.

Day hiking boots are usually mid cut or high cut and usually used for light backpacking trips. You can carry small loads with these but not the heavier ones because it lacks the support you need in carrying one. It also takes only a little time for your feet to feel comfortable in wearing it.

Backpacking boots are good for heavy duty use such as carrying heavy packs during hikes that takes a few days. People that are into camping in hills and mountains use these for the support and durability it has. It can survive usage in rougher terrains and protects your feet better.

The shoe and its various components are made from various materials like rubber and leather that helps in the comfort and protection of your while walking. One of its component are uppers that influence its water resistance, weight, durability and breathability. Midsoles on the other hand buffers and cushions the feet from shocks and stiffer ones are usually better for uneven terrains.

The bottom part is called outsole which is the component that touches the ground most of the time. Lug patterns are used in giving traction as well as improving its grip in most conditions. Heel brakes are located under the heel of your foot and helps in reducing the likelihood of sliding during descents.

Boots should snugly fit although it must not be too tight in order to give room for the toes to move. Wear socks that you are planning to use during walks when shoe fitting and do it when the day ends because this is the time when the feet are swelling and in its largest. Doing these would help you prevent yourself from buying shoes which are too small or tight for you.

Wear it and walk around the shop to try if it fits you well and how comfortable it is. Do not use it immediately on long walks because you might sore your feet instead gradually increase the duration of wearing it to let it adjust to your feet. When purchasing online, buy the brands you have tried before to know the exact size for you.
